“I hope you didn’t give me any other post-hypnotic suggestions , you idiot ,”

Summary : This novel starts with the most horrifying thing I can think of … an awkward party between neighbours . Now this party has something extra to kinda spice it up . You see a happily married man named Tom Wallace and his wife Anne are here and Anne actually has a brother named Philip .
Philip is a psychology major that is studying hypnosis and he decides to try it on Tom . Let’s just say it works well and for now it’s all fun and games . However when Tom gets home things take a turn . It seems that the hypnosis seems to have opened Tom’s mind and he can pick up thoughts from other people . That sucks but the real problem is not all the people he is hearing are living . Can he rid himself of the ghost and keep his family together ? Come find out !
“Why haven’t you got any control over what’s flowing through you ?”
Review : Richard Matheson loves him some haunted house stories it seems and I can’t blame the guy . He writes them pretty darn well . It’s amazing how much character work and plot he can fit inside a relatively short novel . Tom’s struggle with his powers and the trouble they cause for his family are handled masterfully . The ghost in the story is also good and I like the added tension they bring . Overall , if you want a ghost story then you should pick it up .
