Book Reviews : The Scrolls of the Ancients by Robert Newcomb ( Vol.3 of The Chronicles of Blood and Stone )

Genre : Fantasy Format : Hardcover Pages : 530 Published : 2004

Summary : In this book our heros once again are struggling to survive . Not only do they have to deal with another threat from the past , not only are they dealing with more deadly wizards , but once again we have an evil of the same bloodline as our protagonist . We also are fighting demonslavers , pirates , and looking for magically hidden islands . With our protag group split up because Tristan does something impulsive again (imagine my surprise) , we have little time and a great deal to accomplish , let’s go !!!

Review : Alright , so here are the positives . There are some cool additions to the lore , some of the new side characters have interesting back stories , the plot flows pretty smoothly , and the main protagonist’s group feel really close by this point . The negatives , I could not be bothered to give a damn about the main villain . After the first two books villains , this guy just felt like a punk . Overall , I think it’s a better story than the second but still doesn’t have the bite of the first novel .

Again , this would normally be where I put forth my recommendations but it would just be the same as the first so go check that one out

Lesson : Be sure to tell people everything , don’t wait till it kills the nation .
