Summary : Let us meet the Kano family . You see , they just moved into a cheap apartment . One small issue , it’s surrounded by a graveyard and shit starts going sideways almost immediately . First the family pet bird dies , then strange humanoid shapes start appearing on the TV , the elevator keeps trapping people in the basement , and lets not forget the dead bird starts talking to the daughter at night . Hard to believe that’s just the start . Man , maybe just spend the extra money for a place that isn’t obviously haunted .

“Oddly enough , everyone who sings that song seems to end up dead . “

Review : I can’t tell you how much I love a good haunted house story and this book is exactly that . Does it revolutionize the genre ? No , but the haunted house genre doesn’t need to be revolutionized . The novel hits all the points that make the genre with tremendous skill . Get it if you love the haunted house genre as much as I do .

It’s haunting , creepy , and exciting . The family while having their problems feels loving , the apartment building feels alive , and the side characters are entertaining at least .

“I mean , let’s face it , there’s something kind of creepy about living all by yourselves in a building where everyone else has moved out .”
