Book Review : Vampire Hunter D Volume 2 by Hideyuki Kikuchi

Genre : Horror/Adventure Format : Paperback Pages : 215 Published : 1985

Summary : A long time into our future 4 kids disappeared from Tepes village . A few days later 3 of the kids come back but with no knowledge of what happened to them while they were gone . About 10-15 years later villagers start getting attacked in the daylight by what seem like vampires ! How can this be ? The mayor of Tepes hires our mysterious Vampire Hunter D to investigate . It’s D’s job to find out what happened to those kids years ago , how those “vampires” can be in the sun , and how they tie in to the mysterious ruins just outside the town which seem to warp reality while D fights giant spiders , electricity beasts , homunculus , reanimated hunters , shadows , pixies , rapists , and all sorts of cruelty .

Review : I don’t think it’s any surprise that I would recommend this book to you , especially if you’re a big fan of Blade films or other horror action stories . Hideyuki is the man . There is a solid mystery plot throughout and there is a bit of a mad scientist angle in the novel that I wasn’t expecting but worked really well . The book is a good follow up to the first but it also works as a stand alone as any relevant details from the first book are brought up . Overall , supernatural mystery fans , action fans , and vampire lovers in general would be wise to pick up this book !

  1. Love a good vampire story! I’ve read the Charlaine Harris series that became the tv show, the Vampire Dairies books by LJ Smith were good and I also liked the Morganville Vampires series by Rachel Caine.
