Summary : So this is taking place about 6 months after the previous book in the Anthony “Buck” Rogers series “Armageddon 2419 A.D.” and the war against the Han has definitely turned in America’s favor . We’re able to use World War 1 tactics successfully , we’ve created new technologies that the Han doesn’t understand , and we have a definite edge in hand to hand combat . Things are more or less going our way until Rogers goes and gets himself captured . Now he has to battle wits with the leader of the Hans , endure torture , face seductions , while trying to survive , and not let any important information go to the enemy .

“We had no visible cities nor massed bodies of Men for them to destroy , nothing but vast stretches of silent forests and hills , where our forces lurked , invisible from the air .”

Review : It is a perfectly fine science fiction book . Didn’t like it as much as the first though . I can’t put my finger on it . The battle scenes and Rogers himself are written pretty damn good but something seems missing . Would’ve liked to see more interactions with Rogers and his wife as she was a cool character in the first book and some of the scientific explanations of the technology took up way more time than they should’ve , killing the momentum . But overall I enjoyed reading it and if you liked the first one you’ll like this one as well .

“Would I be able to check my little craft in time , or would I , helpless as a bullet itself , crash through the shell of the Han ship to my own destruction ?”
