“Perhaps it isn’t just that the leaves and petals are bitter . Perhaps there are too many whisperings in the air around the ruined gazebos , and the animals are unnerved by what they hear . Perhaps there are too many presences brushing against their trembling flanks as they explore the clotted pathways . Perhaps , as they graze the overgrown lawns , they look up and mistake a statue for a pale fragment of life , and are startled by their error , and take flight . Perhaps , sometimes , they are not mistaken . “

Summary : Meet Todd Pickett , one of the biggest action stars around . Or at least he was . See , his last couple of films didn’t do so well and the producer that helped him become a big name just died . Now his next movie isn’t being made , his dog dies of cancer , and on top of that he is feeling insecure about his looks . In order to help solve the last issue he decides to get a face lift and … it goes wrong . He ends up having to isolate himself in order to let his face heal . An old Hollywood insider recommends a house in a hard to find canyon . This house used to belong to a silent film star named Katya Lupi and she apparently was quite hedonistic and she also doesn’t seem to be dead . In fact , she doesn’t seem to have aged at all and she has taken a liking to one Todd Pickett and sets to seducing him to stay with her in Coldheart Canyon . Come read this story filled with ghosts , abominations , every sexual fetish imaginable , cursed tiles , monks , hunters , Hollywood agents , stalkers , goat boys , and Lilith .
“I’m sorry . It was rude of me : Watching you , I mean . Spying . You’ve as much right to your privacy as I have to mine . And it’s hard to protect yourself sometimes . You don’t know who’s a friend and who’s not . That can make you crazy . “
Review : What do you get when you combine a haunted house , BDSM zombies , Jewish mythos , cursed objects , and a healthy dose of satire aimed at Hollywood ? You get this book . I would not recommend this book for horror newbies . However , I personally loved it and would suggest it for the more hardcore individuals .
“Some nights I’m so crazy I’m ready to hang myself . But I don’t . You know why ? I made this hell for myself , so it’s up to me live in it , isn’t it ?”
