Summary : In a very bleak future where police work is all privatized and people’s bodies are implanted with devices that bring dead bodies back from the dead as servants and the only major religion seems to be neo-Satanism , things are about to change . As the rise of Neo-Satanism and a string of murders start to rise as well as a group of people burning up dead bodies known as the “Cremators” stir things up , a new servant arrives . This servant Danal starts to regain memories and begins to find the connections that could either save humanity … or doom it.

Review : I’m genuinely surprised that this was Kevin J. Anderson’s first novel . The book has a lot of moving parts that feel pretty complex for a beginner novel and they are all done well here . This feels like a cult mystery with a conspiracy thriller mashed up in an old school science fiction package . If any of that appeals to you as much as it does to me then grab it right now !
