Summary : In the not too distant future after multiple possible world ending events the United States is in bad shape . Some communities are doing okay but most seem to be run by authoritarians and loons . One man stumbles across an old United States Postman’s uniform while hiding . He decides to wear it and on a whim takes the mail pouch as well . As he visits another village through a misunderstanding he ends up taking letters from them and starts delivering them . As he travels and delivers , he gets roped into a deadly conflict between a good community and a weird survivalist cult . Damn , all that drama over a uniform .

Review : So this book is well written . The action we get is good , the philosophical discussions are very much relevant to this day , and there is enough drama here to fill a season of “The Young and the Restless” . There is a sense of patriotism here that I wasn’t expecting and it’s actually pretty optimistic . I probably wouldn’t make it my first post apocalyptic book to read as it seems to be referencing other books , so some of this stuff won’t work as well if you haven’t already been reading the genre for a little bit . Give it a read .
