Summary : In a swamp there is a secret government project , another attempt at the secret soldier project that birthed Captain America this time being lead by chemist Ted Sallis when the inevitable sabotage happens . In a desperate attempt to save the project and his own life Sallis injects himself with the formula as he is forced into the murky swamp waters . Little does he know that these swamp waters are connected to a magical nexus and when the formula combine with the magic waters inside him Sallis is transformed into a swamp creature or a Man-Thing if you will . Devoid of most of his human intelligence and slower than your grandma at an all you can eat buffet things seem pretty bad for good old Ted . But there are some benefits . He is no longer a being flesh and blood but instead a living embodiment of the swamp itself , he can sense peoples emotions , his strength rivals demons , seemingly only really weak to fire , and his touch burns those who feel fear around him . Come follow his epic story as he fights terrorists , a business man named F.A. Schist , bikers , demons , meets the Thing and Howard the Duck , saves reality multiple times without thinking about it , performs a play with a dead clown , and much more .

Review : I believe this made the Man-Thing into my top 5 comic book characters . The name is a bit dull but the stories are excellent . He is almost like the swamp version of Godzilla . There is a lot of fantasy and such in these stories but I think the simple stories revolving around the denizens of the swamp feel just as creative . I think all the stories featured were good but I have a soft spot for the black and white issues as they feel the most like an old Universal horror film .
