“Seek not to know more of me – beware how you question me . But you , old man , are not happy ! The traces of care seem to mingle with the wrinkles of age upon your brow !”

Summary : A 90 year old man named Wagner is living in a cottage in the Black Forest of Germany and life is rough . It’s in the middle of winter and his only living relative , a granddaughter named Agnes , has mysteriously disappeared . He is sad , weak , and just outright miserable . Then one night a stranger visits him promising Wagner power , youth , and knowledge . All he has to do is travel with the stranger for 18 months … and once a month take the form of a wehr-wolf to destroy mankind . Sometime after his contract is fulfilled Wagner shows up in Florence and ends up finding his long lost granddaughter . Things start looking up as Wagner also catches the eye of Nisida , a beautiful noble woman . But it’s not to long when he has to become the dreaded wehr-wolf once more and soon he gets framed for murder of his granddaughter . Oh look , someone is visiting him in prison saying they can get him out . Could it be … Satan ?
“That you prey upon the human race , whom I have; because of all the world I alone am so deeply , so terribly accurst !”

Review : Have you ever wanted a gothis soap opera involving wehr-wolves , bandits , cults , and the Ottoman Turks ? Well here you go . This story shines when it focuses on Wagner and Nisida . They have great chemistry and I just dig every scene they have together . However there are large chunks of this story that don’t involve either character and they drag on for way too long . Don’t get me wrong , they aren’t badly written but they would be better in another novel . If your curious about old wehr-wolf novels then check it out as it can be found cheap but if you’re just a casual then this may not be for you .
“I believe you; but beware how you breath to a living soul a word of what you did read !”
