Summary : This film is a live action adaptation of the manga “School – Live !” . These four girls ( Kurumi , Yuki , Yuuri , and Miki) as well as a teacher ( Megumi ) find themselves stuck at school during a zombie outbreak . It isn’t long before the sense of doom starts affecting them so Megumi comes up with an idea to boost spirits . Start a school club that combines the practical stuff they need to do to survive with fun activities to make their situation less gloomy . Unfortunatley Megumi does get bit and it breaks poor Yuki’s mind . Yuki now goes around the school , attending classes , and talking to Megumi , not seeming to notice all the zombies around or acknowledging Megumi’s death . Come watch this tale of the power of friendship even in the darkest of times .

Review : Full disclosure , I watched the anime and read all the manga (something I rarely do ) before watching this movie . So you can say I’m a fan of the franchise overall and have a bias of sorts . The movie is as good an adaption of a manga as you can get . Does it leave stuff out ? Sure , but you can’t fit a whole series in less than two hours without making everything happen at crackhead speeds . I think it hits most of the emotional bits of the first few volumes of the manga effectively , the comedy works to to temporarily relieve the tension without taking away from the threats around them , and the few fights are solid despite having little to no gore . If you liked the manga , or like zombie fiction , or just want a movie about friends overcoming dire circumstances , give this movie a watch if you can .
