Summary : For ten years after the first book John Carter has been on Earth until he dies ( again really ? ) and appears back on Mars . This time though he finds himself in its Holy land and finds it full of carnivorous plant people and great white apes . He also runs into his old friend Tars Tarkas which is convenient cause John needs some back up fighting these things as well as finding his wife Dejah Thoris . On this journey John Carter will get imprisoned at least twicw , encounters two cannibalistic Martian races , fights hundreds ( maybe thousands ) with a sword , rescues Tars Tarkas twice , has two more beautiful women fall in love with him ( he stays faithful , don’t worry ) , finds his son , has battles on air and sea , is put on trial for blasphemy , and fights a goddess . Damn , this guy really needs to relax .

Review : Everything that was good about the first novel is amplified in this . Just wall to wall action with one of the most masculine characters in science fiction history . With themes of love , loyalty , brotherhood , and honor being strong throughout . Sword fights , ship battles , beautiful women , and cannibals . What more could you want ? Get it folks !
