Friday by Robert A. Heinlein

Introduction : ” Friday ” by Robert A. Heinlein is a science fiction novel published in 1982 . I got this as a paperback with 357 pages . The book is a bit spicy so adult content will be mentioned in this post , you’ve been warned .

Quote : ” Besides , as my boss says , with all governments everywhere tightening down on everything wherever they can , with their computers and their Public Eyes and ninety-nine other sorts of electronic surveilance , there is a moral obligation on each person to fight back wherever possible … “

Summary : These are the memoirs of a sex positive combat courier from the future . We follow her ( Friday ) , an artificial human , as she goes on dangerous missions , get married , kills assasins , studies history , sleeps with almost everyone ( not always consenting , here’s your warning ) , avoids terrorists and police alike , and even manages to have a baby .

Hindsight is wonderful – it shows you how you busted your skull … after you’ve busted it . “

Review : Pretty much anything by Robert A. Heinlein is a recommendation from me at this point . This book does contain content that people just looking for a casual science fiction novel might be turned off on such as rape and obvious socio-political commentary but Heinlein’s skill makes it work for me . The main characters wit and Heinlein’s world building skills make this a must buy for me !

I’ll risk it for this bucko Boss , I don’t hold the rape qua rape against him ; they were ordered to rape me under the silly theory that it would soften me up for interrogation . But the scum should bathe and he should have his teeth fixed and he should brush them and use a mouthwash . And somebody must tell him that it is not polite to slap a woman with whom he has copulated . “
